Wyoming small game & bird seasons: a quick overview
Last checked 2026-10-23. Unofficial guide — the Wyoming Game and Fish Department (WGFD) is the authority; always confirm on WGFD before you apply.
Wyoming’s small game and bird seasons are set in WGFD regulations. We copy the season tables straight from those regulations and link the original PDFs. Here’s where to find each one.
- Upland birds — sage grouse, blue and ruffed grouse, sharp-tailed grouse, partridge and pheasant, with pheasant and sage grouse hunt-area maps.
- Springer permit pheasant — dates, quotas and draw results.
- Waterfowl, doves, rail & snipe — with a waterfowl zone map.
- Sandhill crane — permit draw results and a hunt-area map.
- Wild turkey — spring and fall seasons and spring draw results.
- Rabbits, hares & squirrels and furbearers & beaver.
Public access
Each hunt-area map has an optional public-access layer showing Walk-In Hunting Areas, Hunter Management Areas, WHMAs and Public Access Areas from WGFD. Check WGFD’s rules before you go: WGFD public access.
Season dates in the regulations apply to the year shown in each excerpt; later seasons may not be published yet. WGFD is the authority.
